I hate to admit it but, nowadays I rarely feel hot and sexy. Before I had my son, I had the energy to go out drinking and look forward to dressing up pretty. Now, I’m just a tired mom with messy hair and clothes trying to survive the work week until it’s Friday again. It’s just crazy how having a child can change your whole life. But, being a parent is something that I enjoy.

So, lately, I’ve been feeling ‘bleh’. I haven’t worked out in forever and I can definitely see the pounds packing on. Oh, how I missed the days where I could nurse and eat whatever I wanted without gaining extra weight!

Oh well, I just have to work with what I’ve got.

Valentine’s Day is coming up and I just had to share how any parent can feel hot and sexy again even after having kids. Plus, these tips can be used at any time throughout the year, not only just for Valentine’s Day.

Here’s how couples can feel hot and sexy again!

EAT A BALANCED MEAL

Most parents are always on the go and we usually grab something that is ‘convenient’. Anything that is convenient isn’t usually the healthiest items to eat. I know because I tend to just grab whatever is quick and microwavable and head out the door.

The fix?

Try and carve out some time to plan ahead for healthier meals. Junk food will add weight and affect your energy level. To help me in this area, I also turn to multivitamins and a healthy protein shake that I get from Amazon. I get all the healthy nutrients my body desperately needs while I’m on the go.

EXERCISE

Yes, sadly exercise goes hand in hand with eating healthy, but your body will thank you for that. If you don’t have time to exercise, take the stairs if you’re at work, or take a walk around the block during your lunch hour. Anything to keep your body moving helps. If you have time while you’re at home, do a Google search for home workouts. My favorite is Sweatflix. For just $10 a month you have access to a library of different workout videos for any level type. I know it sounds rated R but it’s not, I’ve been following them since the beginning before they got big. I guess you could say that I’m a loyal fan.

BUY A NEW OUTFIT AND SEXY UNDERWEAR

To feel sexy, buy clothes that fit your body. Being a parent means that our bodies have changed quite a bit. Buy new clothes that fit you nicely and new underwear to boost that confidence.

Seriously, stay away from granny panties and let go of the jeans that you had before having kids. Your body changes through pregnancy and after giving birth, work with what you have now and be confident.

Head on over to Victoria’s Secret and get a matching pair of lacy undies and bras. Your confidence will thank you as you show them off to your spouse while the kids are asleep.

FLIRT WITH YOUR SPOUSE

Are you thinking of your spouse while you’re at work? Instead of the boring “hi, how’s work?”, text him as if you both were still dating. Guys love to feel wanted as much as women, and us women need to show our guys that. Flirt with your spouse and send sexy memes to get their attention.

SET UP A DATE NIGHT

It’s so easy to get lost in a daily routine with your kids and work. It’s so easy it becomes automated. Once in awhile, break that routine and schedule a date night. Get a babysitter or a family member to watch your kids and make this date night happen. Forget the messy house, piled laundry, and dirty dishes. It’ll still be there when you get back, but for now, concentrate on your relationship as a couple. It’s the most important thing to take care of when you run a household.

Girl, get your sexy little black dress, heels, and red lipstick and wow your man!

SCHEDULE TIME FOR SEX

You must be thinking that scheduling time for sex must be the weirdest advice ever! But this little tidbit goes hand in hand with the tip above. No matter how tired the both of you are, making time for this is important. It keeps your relationship alive and healthy. Plus, it’s a great stress reliever.

BRING BACK THE PDA!

Yes, your kids think its gross and they WILL be grossed out. But showing affection towards your spouse keeps the relationship healthy. It’s a great way to show that you are still into them. My son cracks me up. He would try to fight his dad and push him away if he sees us hugging. And when it’s time for goodnight kisses he tries to pry our faces away or he turns his head and pretends to be sleeping.

So go ahead and gross out your kids. At least they will see how a loving and healthy relationship should be.

PUT DOWN THE ELECTRONICS

I’ve mentioned this little tip in a previous post, Classic Valentine’s Day Date Ideas that are Still Romantic and Saves You Money. Putting the electronics away helps keep the focus on the person you’re connected with. There are no distractions, just great conversation and listening. Keep the bond strong with attentiveness.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST, CONFIDENCE WILL MAKE YOU FEEL HOT AND SEXY

Have confidence in yourself. Having more than one child can make life overwhelming but you can accomplish anything if you have confidence in yourself. Stop comparing yourself to others, stop having unrealistic ideas about how your body should look because we’re not all created equally. Appreciate what you have because in the eyes of your spouse and kids, you are the most beautiful person they know.

What do you do to feel hot and sexy again?
